The Ballarat Begonia Festival needed its own power supply and Coates Hire stepped up for the job.

The Begonia Festival is a free event hosted annually by the Ballarat City Council over the Labour Day weekend. This year it was run from March 9 – 11 and saw around 60,000 people enjoying entertainment, activities, talks, food and – of course – the flower displays and demonstrations.

The Festival has been a feature of the region for 53 years. It takes place in the 40-hectare Botanical Gardens and these days includes live music, food stalls and assorted lifestyle displays and entertainment shows for kids.
Claudia Lengfelder, Events Officer at the Ballarat City Council, says the Festival has grown over the years and now requires a reliable source of electricity throughout the Gardens to power food sites, stages and the marquees.

“The Begonia Festival is more than just a flower show and we need our own power from generators to ensure all the events and sites can operate.”

The Coates Hire Ballarat branch supported the Begonia Festival by providing reliable and clean power throughout the Botanical Gardens during the flower extravaganza.

Coates Hire Regional Sales Manager, Harry Kinsella, says the company is a Festival sponsor and was proud to deliver reliable and clean power to the event with eight best-of-class generators. He says Coates Hire supplies power to major civil projects which means its generator fleet is always at the forefront of emissions and noise standards.

“The Begonia Festival covers a large area and includes stages and stalls around the Gardens, so they need reliable power. Coates Hire invests in the latest generator technology, ensuring compliance with emissions, noise and pollution regulations,” says Kinsella.

He says aside from using the latest technology, Coates Hire’s major selling point is the on-call servicing of its equipment and fast replacement should it be required.

“This Festival celebrates nature and the community and it requires a lot of reliable and low-emissions power to hold it in the Botanical Gardens. We’re happy to be able to provide peace of mind to the Begonia Festival organisers, with our modern generators and our unrivalled servicing.”
