NICK PERCAT - BEND REPCO SUPERSPRINT PREVIEW

LATEST FROM US
p>Hi everyone!

It’s race week again! This time we’re ready for a double header at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia. Nelson and I drove from Townsville to Adelaide last week and have since been spending some time with mum and dad. Nelson loves staying with his grandparents and I haven’t seen mum and dad since the Adelaide 500, so we’ve had plenty to catch up on.

I am hoping the Repco SuperSprint will be a good one for us. I finished fourth here last year, and I feel our recent form bodes well for another strong result.

This year we are on the soft tyres which could change things up a bit.  The other interesting factor that could come into play is the weather. There’s rain predicted on Saturday and that will definitely spice things up. It’s a high-speed track and adding water will make it even riskier!

Tyre degradation is very very low, so it changes our race strategy. You can do quite long stints on the one set of tyres and not lose any ground, and sometimes even be quicker than the driver who has pitted earlier and put new tyres on.

Qualifying is extremely important here. It’s quite hard to follow the car in front and you can get a lot of aero wash. Add in limited practice time and changeable weather conditions and it’s going to be a cracker of a weekend!

If it rains all day Saturday then Sunday will take us back to the drawing board in terms of set up and tuning, and qualifying could be a bit of a lottery.

Earlier this week we took my old Coates Hire Porsche cup car out for a few hot laps at The Bend, which was great fun. Other than that I’ve been recharging, taking a bit of a break and focusing on finishing off the next three events of the year strongly.

Remember, you can follow me on social media for updates across the event.
