About Trench Sheets & Sheet Piling

Constructed from corrugated steel, trench sheets and sheet piling are used to retain soil during excavation by forming a continuous vertical barrier. Sheet piles interlock to create a watertight barrier, whereas trench sheets overlap instead of interlocking, so they’re not watertight.

Sheet piles offer a more robust connection compared to trench sheets and are ideal for deep excavations. Trench sheets still offer a high strength-to-weight ratio and are better suited for small to medium-depth excavations where a watertight seal isn’t required.

Both trench sheets and sheet piles are driven into the ground to prevent soil collapse and support adjacent structures. Common applications include basement excavations, pump stations, gross pollutant traps, tank farms, cofferdams, pipe trenches and cut and dives.
