Find out how Coates Power & HVAC can support your next project

Coates continues to grow and integrate the support it provides to customers through the launch of its comprehensive new power and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) offering. Building on the company’s existing capabilities, Coates Power & HVAC provides turnkey solutions for power, compressed air, climate control and process cooling, with an extensive range of custom-built equipment and end-to-end service and support from a highly experienced team.

“Coates has Australia’s largest equipment hire fleet, an unparalleled branch network and more trades and maintenance people in far flung places than any other provider, so we are uniquely positioned to launch an offer like this,” says Kurt Edwards, Coates Power & HVAC Manager. “Being well-established in the supply of power generators and air compressors, we have added temperature control equipment, hybrid power systems, improved our power distribution offering and built an end-to end service to deliver.”

What type of power and HVAC equipment can customers hire?

Coates’ range of diesel, electric, petrol, battery and hybrid power and HVAC equipment has been custom-built to suit challenging Australian conditions, according to the company’s own specifications. Some of the specialised equipment now available to Coates customers includes:

To support these products, customers also have access to full service and support, including system design, installation and commissioning; remote monitoring via telemetry; refuelling; scheduled servicing and 24/7 field support teams; and Coates’ nationwide logistics network.

What’s in it for Coates customers?
Scaled-up support from one supplier

For existing customers, it’s likely that Coates is already on site supplying specialist equipment and expertise, which makes it much easier to partner with Coates for additional project requirements.

“Power and HVAC are value-add services for some customers and a new service for others,” says Kurt. “During industrial shutdowns and maintenance, Coates is often already providing tool stores, access, materials handling and other equipment, so we’re well-positioned to provide complementary systems for temporary power and cooling, at scale and at speed. Utilising the same provider for power, ventilation or temperature control systems can streamline customer processes and increase cost efficiencies.”

Major construction and civil projects are similar, says Kurt. “We regularly work with building and civil engineering contractors to provide temporary power and ventilation solutions. We now offer a wide range of complementary hire solutions, such as hybrid power systems to support our portable building complexes, resulting in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and significant fuel savings for customers.”

Sectors like manufacturing, meanwhile, are generally less reliant on hire, says Kurt. “But critical equipment breakdown is still a showstopper, so limiting the impact of fixed plant failure and building more robust response or preventative systems are key. Coates Power & HVAC can mobilise quickly to address critical plant failure or work with customers to incorporate standby hire equipment into their contingency planning.”

Fast response for breakdowns and emergencies

Customers will often require a power and HVAC solution to maintain production when equipment breaks down; to support additional production or manufacturing capacity; or when a comprehensive emergency response needs to be actioned. The nature of these situations makes fast turnaround essential, and Coates Power & HVAC has the footprint, equipment, relationships, and transport network to respond very quickly to these and many other high-stakes situations.

“During last year’s east coast floods, our team worked alongside the NSW Rural Fire Service to establish several emergency response camps, which had to be up and running within 48 hours, from portable buildings and ablution blocks to power and HVAC solutions, the Coates team delivered on every aspect. The deployment of an extreme spot cooling system for a major industrial shutdown for Boral is another example. The system had to be operational within 36 hours of the call for a site inspection, and the team delivered,” says Kurt. “These are great examples of how Coates can quickly mobilise across our entire business to provide an end-to-end solution to help customers get, or stay, operational.”

Diverse support for diverse customers

Customers can now partner with Coates Power & HVAC for temporary systems, short-term solutions and longer-term strategies. And because Coates already works with diverse customers in diverse industries, it can resolve a wide range of issues too.

“Whether there is a breakdown at a manufacturing facility that requires a temperature control or compressed air solution, a chiller failure in a hospital that requires an emergency response, or you need a temporary power solution to stay operational during power transformer maintenance, these are all situations that Coates is experienced and well-equipped to support,” says Kurt.

Customer-centric project management

The value that Coates places on maintaining great communication and customer experience and achieving clarity of expectation, ensures that customer projects run smoothly. “Most of our product specialists have worked previously in customer-facing roles, so we understand the level of service our customers’ expect and need, which can really make or break an engagement,” says Kurt. “Additionally, what sets Coates Power & HVAC apart is our ability to design a power and HVAC solution, integrate our activity with the customer’s workflow, and use local teams to deliver, install, commission and maintain the equipment on site, anywhere in Australia.”
