21 NOVEMBER 2019

Hi everyone!

We’ve finally reached the last event of the 2019 season; the Coates Hire Newcastle 500! This weekend we wrap up the championship with two 250-kilometre races around the streets of Newcastle.

The circuit itself is extremely hard work and demanding on the car, as well as the drivers and the crews. The layout of the circuit doesn’t allow for much of a rest anywhere, and its hard work sliding the car up against the fence and across the kerbs.

Our crew needs to be on top of the car’s set up, and I have to be precise in hitting the braking markers and turns to eliminate any mistakes. Newcastle is a track I’ve gone well at in the past, I’ve had two top 10 finishes from the four races held here so far. Last year I made the Top 10 Shootout on Saturday, and obviously I’d love to make both the Shootouts this year.

Overall in the season to date I’ve had 19 top ten finishes and finished 4th on two occasions. My goal is to have a clean weekend and try and get to 7th place in the Driver’s Championship. I’m 89 points behind Cam Waters in 7th so it’s probably a long shot, but a top ten finish would be a solid result.

If I could achieve that it would be my best result in the Driver’s Championship and great result for the whole team.  There’s a lot to race for at BJR too because if we can beat WAU in the Team’s Championship we’ll jump them in the pit lane order next year.

The best part of this event is having my personal sponsor Coates Hire onboard as the major sponsor for the race. It’s always great to have the support from everyone in the corporate box … they enjoy watching on track and I enjoy visiting them and mingling with them between track sessions.

My car is once again running a fresh Timken livery for this final round. It’s the third year in a row that we’ve had them on the car for the finale. I think the car looks mega with a white base and orange branding. Make sure you keep an eye for it on social media, and across the weekend on track too!

Remember, you can follow me on social media for updates across the event.
