What is a waler beam?
A waler beam is used to provide structural support along its length, typically to a vertical panel such as a shoring wall of an excavation. HW500 is installed against the shoring wall, typically around the perimeter of the excavation to provide continuous support at all locations. The support the HW500 provides may be supplemented by adding struts to provide additional strength, such as a Coates MP375 Hydraulic Strut.
Why does the HW500 have a ‘Mechanical Locking System?
The HW500 is installed using its integral hydraulic cylinder. However, it supports compression load using the integral Mechanical Locking System. This system provides a permanent mechanical support, which eliminates any risk of hydraulic pressure loss, and allows for extreme load carrying performance.
What kind of hydraulic pump is required?
Coates offers a high-flow motorised pump to install the HW500. This allows for rapid installation (and removal) with minimal manual labour required.
How is the adjustable unit assembled with the beam extensions?
All components of the HW500 are assembled with simple pinned connections. This allows for rapid and easy assembly, with no requirement for specialised tools.
