Ellen Maher won a gold medal in gymnastics at the 2019 Special Olympics and when she returned, Coates Hire celebrated her big win.
“I represented Australia in gymnastics at the Special Olympics in Dubai in Abu Dhabi, specialising in the bars, floor and vault. I won three gold medals for my floor routine, plus a bronze and a fourth. I absolutely loved going to the Special Olympics. It was a great experience and the culture was amazing.
When I got back to Coates Hire from Dubai, my colleagues made me feel really special. They decorated my desk with photos, big balloons and bright streamers. It’s fun moments like this that make working here so much more special. Everyone is really nice to me and always wanting to have a chat when we pass each other in the office.
As the Office Assistant I have lots of jobs and responsibilities. I do everything from helping maintain the office to organising the mail and making sure everyone has everything they need, like making sure the photocopier is always fully stocked with paper.
My favourite part about my job is the chance to learn new skills. It gives me a real sense of achievement.
At the moment, I’m saving up to go to Turkey for my next gymnastics competition this year called the Trisome Games.
I look forward to making my office friends proud, I’m hoping to score another medal and I can’t wait to make it happen.
