Sydney, Australia, 6 June 2022 – Coates, Australia’s leading equipment hire and solutions provider, has launched the Coates Greener Choices range of products for its customers.
“Coates Greener Choices range offers customers tangible opportunities to reduce emissions, improve efficiencies and commit to best practice environmental sustainability standards,” said Murray Vitlich, CEO, Coates. “As Australia’s leading equipment and solutions provider, we are focused on providing more sustainable equipment and solutions that support our customers sustainability goals and help guide our suppliers in making greener choices in product design and manufacture. We are committed to further developing our Greener Choice range of equipment and solutions and recognise that the criteria for inclusion in this range will continue to evolve as the industry advances and new technologies emerge.”
Last year Coates unveiled its Sustainability Strategy, a framework built on the five key pillars of Our People, Our Communities, Resilience, Eco-Efficiency and Greener Choices. The framework is underpinned by the Circular Economy concept that is based on the principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use and regenerating natural systems. This approach aims for business growth as well as positive, society-wide benefits, driven by a transition to renewable energy sources.
“Our customers are increasingly looking to us for solutions that support the sustainability objectives of their projects and organisations,” said Vitlich. “Our long-term commitment to energy efficiency and investment in emerging and innovative technologies makes us well placed to deliver what our customers need.”
In line with this strategy, and to coincide with World Environment Day 2022 themed “Only One Earth” – Coates has unveiled a number of more sustainable equipment and solutions, available as part of the Greener Choices range, which will help the company and its customers achieve Net Zero. These solutions include:
In addition, later this year, Coates is launching the revolutionary Quadshore™ 150 propping system, the world’s lightest propping system. Developed in conjunction with leading researchers from Monash University, the lightweight, heavy-duty propping structure is more environmentally sustainable than conventional propping systems. As it is made with higher-grade steel, there is less material used in its manufacture and less energy is required for its transportation.
“At Coates, our vision is to be the market leader in safe, smart and sustainable equipment solutions. We understand the leadership role we have in promoting circular economy thinking because of the inherently circular nature of our equipment hire and business solutions model. Working with our supply chain, we continue to look to apply the principles of the circular economy to reduce waste and pollution in the procurement, design and operation of our equipment, keep products and materials in use, and ultimately, regenerate natural systems,” said Vitlich.
Working across three phases - ‘Design and manufacture’, ‘Use’ and ‘End of life’, Coates’ Circular Systems plans will guide the company in pursuing sustainability outcomes across its equipment portfolio at each stage of the equipment’s development and use – including working with its supply chain to reduce energy use and emissions optimise materials efficiency and reduce waste through improved design for disassembly and recycling.
“To have real impact on the world, we need to not only change the way we think and act, but also enable and inspire others to act as well,” said Vitlich. “There are challenges ahead, but by working together with our customers and supply chain, we can turn shared vision into meaningful action.”
